Do You See What I Feel? by Dana Harrell-Sanders

Face with mouth open looking into mirror. Reflection has darker face, eyes bulging. Mainly blues but face looking in white and face looking out dark green.

Oil on canvas, 20″ x 16″

My painting represents those that suffer from fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome. A person suffering with the disorders seem so healthy on the outside that others have a hard time perceiving what’s going on inside.

  2. I think this is a creative way of depicting how the person is feeling which is represented in their mirror image. The bulging red raw eyes display true pain along with both images displaying open mouths as though they are crying out. The mirror image looks as if the person is swimming in water, as if they are drowning in pain and cannot connect with those outside of the mirror.
